Who We Are

The Randolph County, North Carolina Genealogical Society is a non-profit organization formally organized under The Randolph County Historical Society on October 19, 1976.  Membership is open to all interested.  Annual dues are $25.00.  All members will receive a free subscription to The Genealogical Journal.

The Randolph County Genealogical Society was formed to preserve, publish, and assist in genealogical research for Randolph County, NC and surrounding areas.  We also strive to educate Randolph County genealogists in sound research methodology.  We share information and experiences related to genealogical research.  All members are encouraged to file a pedigree chart or share any research with us.

Our Goals

  • To increase interest in and raise the standard of genealogical research and compilation by means of educational programs, workshops, and publication of genealogical data.
  • To instruct its members in the art and practice of genealogical research and compilation.
  • To acquaint its members with sources of genealogical material in Randolph County and elsewhere.
  • To provide periodicals and information as a medium of genealogical information and exchanage.
  • To promote the collection, preservation, and use of manuscripts, documents, and other materials of genealogical and historical value.

We publish The Genealogical Journal on a quarterly basis.  The Journal will contain material that is of interest to historians and genealogists with roots in Randolph County and the surrounding area.  Since the county was formed from Guilford in 1779, which was part of Rowan and Orange prior to 1771, some data from those and neighboring counties may be included.  Contributions of unpublished material:  Bible records, old letters, diaries and other private papers will be welcomed by the editor(s).

Queries are free to all members but must be accompanied by a pedigree chart relative to the same unless formerly filed.
